Hello, i run a forum and one of my members cant log on. He has been a member for over a year, but never logged on until now. On his first attempt to log in he got the message that username or password were wrong, so i told him how to re set his password, explaining it was only a temporary one and hat he would need to change it. First attempt he entered the temporary password and got the message it was wrong. I then deleted his account and started a new one for him with his username, and a new password. He still cannot log on, keeps getting told the username or password is incorrect. So far i have asked him to do the following:-
Clear the cache, to clear out any old passwords - said he did this but his system crashed and it took all morning to get back online. If using a laptop, is 'num lock' key on? Make sure it is switched off. Make sure the caps lock is off too. The password is case sensitive; make sure you don’t use a capital at the beginning Do you have access to any other systems? Try logging on from another see if that works. Try copying and pasting username and password from the email at log in and see if that helps.
He says he has tried all this, all to no avail. Any other suggestions anyone? He is using Mozilla firefox as his browser.
Thanks in advance, Jayne |

Is there a way to change the order of pictures in the gallery? At the moment we only have one gallery, on two pages, but every time a picture is added it gos on the end, therefore haivng to scroll through 2 pages to get to the new picture, which is a bit of a pain to say thel east. |

Hi, i have a mandatory field set up on my forum for people when registering, which i want for admin records, but for members privacy have set it to not displayed. However, it has been pointed out to me by a member that this information shows up in the profile to therest of the members of the forum, and as a test have set my self up a seperate account as a normal non-admin member to check and sure enough, after the words not displayed it shows. i had assumed, that by setting it to not displayed, that this field wouldnt be displyed, not to follow the words not displyed by the very thing i didnt want. is this a bug? have i missed somethign in my set up? or is it not possible to hide info from other members, despite ticking boxes to do so? thanks for any help Jayne |

Hi INgmar, Thanks for the reply and explanation. I myself have only a dot in the required field (im Admin, i'm alowed to cheat ).
I did look up the email adress on google, and it came up as a known forum spam email, so it obvioulsy does disable Java. Also on looking up the email and IP adress together i got the same results, althgough that emial adress has been seen to come form several other IP adresses too.
I have declined the request and like you say if they are genuine, they will contact me to ask why they cant log in.
Thanks again for your help |

Hi Ingmar, a new user registered at my board at 3.30 am (strange time to be registering) and has registered without filling in mandatory fields set for sighn up, just gives the IP adress. i have just tried to register a new account myself without filling them in and it wont let me.
I have yet to authorise this new memebr, however wonderd if you knew how it was possible for them to register without filling in mandatory fields, or is it likely to be spam?
Many Thanks,
Jayne |

Hi Ingmar, Got a bit of a puzzle here - last night i got an email telling me a new user of the name 'tugs' had registered in my board, and activation was necessary. I went to the board, on the admin home page and they weren’t there! I refreshed the page, still nothing, i logged off and back on again - still nothing. I logged off, shut the computer down over night, logged in again this morning - and still they aren’t showing up!
Any idea where they could have gone or why this might be?
Thanks in advance,
Jayne |

Hi Ingmar, Well, i have now discovered something else. On the actual members profile, the system has added "http://" and the link works, (I don’t think it did earlier, but maybe it did and I was looking in the wrong place) however on the user list page the "http:// "doesn’t come up and the link doesn’t work. The link to the user pages is here, http://www.thebranchline.org/userlist.php?page=3, if you can see it and have a look for me. I don’t know if this is expected or not?
Many Thanks for your help,
Jayne |

Board 541104 (www.thebranchline.org)
On the members profiles the homepage links are not working for those that have not put http:// in fornt of them. Are they emant to work without or do i need to tell people to put the http:// in front of thier website adresses (they are not very technicaly minded most of them)?
Thanks for your help,

Hi Ingmar, i have set up a new field on our forum and have made it madatory, however it appears that untill anyone actually visits thier profile they are not required to fill it in. Is their any other way of getting them to fill this field in, say by making it happen the next itme they log in, or do i just have to wait for them to visit thier profile?
Thanks in advance,
